About 45SouthPhotography

45South Photography was born out of about 30 years of being a passionate amateur photographer.  In the early part of my career I worked as a Trainee with the, then, New Zealand Wildlife Service (now Department of Conservation).  Those years afforded opportunities to visit parts of NZ most people never get to in a lifetime; Stewart Island, Fiordland, the Chatham Islands.  Carrying a camera was an essential part of our kit and most Trainees were labelled “gear freaks” – trying to out compete each other with the best gear!
