ABOUT US

45South Photography was born out of about 30 years of being a passionate amateur photographer.  In the early part of my career I worked as a Trainee with the, then, New Zealand Wildlife Service (now Department of Conservation).  Those years afforded opportunities to visit parts of NZ most people never get to in a lifetime; Stewart Island, Fiordland, the Chatham Islands.  Carrying a camera was an essential part of our kit and most Trainees were labelled “gear freaks” – trying to out compete each other with the best gear!

Since that time, I have followed this passion for photography preferring to capture scenes, moments, people and objects as our eyes see them – real, unfiltered and dynamic within the context of the situation they are in and utilising great composition.

If you’re still reading this, then hopefully I’ve interested you and you’ve had a peek at some of the stuff I can do for you - maybe we can work together and capture the people, the moments and the things that are special to you.
